An alternative to gel that may be available in your area: veterinary lube. You can find it in farm stores (selling cattle supplies, feed, vet supplies, etc.) At least here in the western US it's easy to come by. No vet's license or anything, just pick up a gallon jug and go through check out.
It's essentially J-Lube, but MUCH cheaper. About eight bucks a gallon. Used for assisting difficult breech deliveries of calves. Don't ask this farm boy for the details - you don't want to know.
But vet lube is GREAT for unintended purposes. Two guys in tight jeans and white t-shirts can have a slippery, shiny, sexy wrestling match on a tarp - and yes, you CAN ask this farm boy for these details!
